There’s something about October that makes me want to just wallow in memory. Echoes of the past seem to rise from the world’s skin, scented with decaying leaves and baked apples.
In that spirit, I wrote this prompt recently in response to a Grandma Moses painting at the Shelburne museum: Write a poem where someone appears four or five times at various stages in their life all at once on the page, as various guests at a wedding, which you can view here, from the Bennington Museum’s magical site:
